Project 365-2/22/2011

I had a meeting after work tonight and also had work to do this evening. For a short break I took the scenic route home. I was just in time for a beautiful sunset.

The boys and I were home today for President's Day. With all the warm weather lately we were hoping for a good day. Nope! It rained all day. Rhys really wanted to go out!

Gavin is our Jedi. He has been busy lately playing his Star Wars Leapster Game and "playing Star Wars" at Pre-K with his friends. In this photo I caught him as "Dart Bader!" ;)

Project 365-2/19/2011

We spend a lot of time on the floor playing in Rhys' room. Usually the kids play around Jon and I as we talk. This is what a typical Saturday afternoon play time looks like from my perspective.

Friday night La Fonda Fiesta with the Gierich Boys! These are my favorite nights!

Project 365-2/17/2011

It was sunny and 70 degrees when we got home today! Gavin loves to run, jump, and kick. This is the little leap frog!

Graffitied tunnel in small-town, rural Illinois. Strange? Yes. Do I think it has a gritty beauty? YES!

I pass it everyday on my way to work. I have NO idea what is on the other side.

Getting ready for bed. This ALWAYS includes bedtime reading!

Project 365-2/14/2011

Today is Valentine's Day. This is my littlest most-dimplely Valentine.

Project 365-2/13/2011

Rhys was laying on the floor with mommy watching TV on a very lazy Sunday evening. We all took naps on this day and stayed in our pajamas. These are my favorite days. I just think he has the most beautifully perfect eye lashes.

Today was Jon's birthday. His parents sent him a new Blackhawk's jersey. He loves it!

Happy Birthday, Love!

Ivy covered abandoned building next to our local trail.

On this day it was near sunset. I love how the blue sky reflected a bit from the snow on the ground, creating a beautiful color and contrasting really well with the ivy.

Mommy, I am upside down and my heart is on my head. Yes baby, but you usually wear it on your sleeve. Happy Valentine's Day Baby! I love you!

I am so very sad. These tiny shoes went to storage today.

Project 365-2/6/2011

As Gavin and I were leaving the Y today we looked right and there in my line of sight was this beautiful barn. I insisted we go and check it out. Usually Gavin would object, but not today. It was a Mommy-Gavin day! He thought that it was really cool! We parked on the busy road and checked it out. I snapped a few shots. This was Gavin's favorite. I agree! It was shabby and battered, but still standing. It was soulful and strong. Why hadn't we noticed it before?

Food decisions--our big issue.

Here we are a little family of four. We each have very strong personalities and opinions...we work hard everyday to keep it together and not drive each other mad. However, I don't know about everyone else, but our biggest issue (yes, it IS petty) is figuring out a daily menu. I am unbelievably thankful that we the means to eat what we want and have the opportunity to have so much variety that it causes an issue. But, it does and can lead to much conflict here at our house.

Jon and I have similar, yet different food preferences. He could eat the same thing two days in a row, where I can NOT! I know weird. I have gotten better about taking left-overs to work for lunch. I am working on it. It's not that so much these days. It is the actual decision making process that is the issue. We are incredibly indecisive. If I recommend one thing it is shot down, if he recommends something I shoot it down. I think it is boredom of eating the same things over and over. We need new fresh ideas for meals.

The second part of the problem is the kids. They have become pretty limited in their preferences. Gavin in particular is very limited. I swore I would never make two meals, one for us and one for them, but here I am making two. Add that to the list of things I would never do as a parent. AHHHH....we can not decide what to eat that would please all four of us!

WHATS FOR DINNER? I DON'T KNOW, LEAVE ME ALONE!! Effective, huh?

What are your favorite, family-friendly, meals?

Another Saturday morning in February. It is snowing again! We are still in our PJ's at noon. Rhys loves to play with the vertical blinds. Jon and I hate them. We are hoping one day they will fall down from him tugging on them. Until then he can treat them as a play thing.

Project 365-2/4/2011

These are the two most important material things in our house. The bear is Gavin's lovie and the giraffe is Rhys'. I found them snuggled on the floor when we came home tonight. It reminds me of Toy Story. Were they playing together all day while we were out? They are our Woody and Buzz. Can you tell how much they have been "loved"?

Project 365-2/3/2011

In spite of the third snow day in a row Gavin went to pre-k and Rhys went to the sitters. When I picked Gavin up he had a drawing to show off. He said, "it isn't finished." However, he pulls out the drawing of a pirate ship. It is all about the details, right? Well note the faces with X's through them. These he says are the skull and cross bones. :) Love him.

Project 365-2/2/2011

The aforementioned snow has resulted in lots-o chili and soup. Today is "White Chili" YUMMO!

Almost 2 years!

It has been a long time. Things are going well for us here at the G-House. The kids are growing everyday. With it being February we are all catching a case of cabin fever! Soon enough we will have plenty going on. Gavin will start his fourth soccer season next month. In April he will also join his first t-ball league. We will be on the go and I can't wait. My kids are both sports-minded and active. It is a great release for us to have activities to go to! Check back for updates (I promise to be better at keeping the blog updated).

We have had an abundance of snow days this year. Things have been extremely relaxing this past month. Work will get done as soon as we return to some type of consistent schedule. Right?? I hope so. The work is piling up! I am trying not to get too anxious about it.

Anyways, I am training to run a marathon relay in April. I will run on April 9th in the StL. I am not a runner and haven't really enjoyed the training. It doesn't help that the training program has hit a couple of bumps with the blizzards and stomach viruses at our house. I am hoping that tomorrow will start the consistent training that I need for the next two months.

Overall things are good!

Project 365-2/1/2011

Hello all,

Nothing like starting a project a month late right? Well who would expect anything less from me!? I have been inspired by a dear blog friend. The project involves taking and posting one picture everyday for 365 days.

Jon bought me a wonderful much-coveted camera for Christmas (Thanks again Babe!). I have promised him and myself that I would learn to use it properly. I'm hoping that this project will advance my skills.

Here is my first shot.

We have been hit with a ton of snow and ice this winter. This is what we got for "Snowmageddon 2011".
