Whoa nelly...momma's getting big!

I am getting really uncomfortable! I am looking huge! One of my colleagues said today, "Rachel can you GET any more pregnant?" To which I responded...I hope so. This baby isn't done baking! 6 weeks to go!!

Here are a few shots from tonight!

I don't look too huge straight on!

But look out from the side!!

Bare belly is even worse!! LOL!

Hiccups and updates

Holy hiccups Batman! I swear this baby is having hiccups four times a day! Funny stuff.

Doctor's appointment was fairly uneventful. Belly is measuring right at 33 weeks. The doctor feels as if the baby still has plenty of room. Baby's head is down and ready to go. I received the materials to pre-register at the hospital. It is so crazy to think that we will be parents of TWO children in just a matter of 7 weeks! EEEEEEEKKKKKKKK! Next appointment is on the 18th. I will have an US and we will make sure Baby G isn't going to try to out do their big brother Gavin is the birth weight category!

Jon will be out of town next week and the following week. Leave me some comments so I don't get too bored.

Oh one more drama, our friend who was going to watch the baby when I go back to work has backed out! UGH!! The other possibility is a woman that a colleague uses and she had a stroke a week back. So back to the drawing board! I just don't know what to do.

Our Weekend

Things have been slowing down. WHEW! We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing weekend. Thank goodness. Jon has painted the baby's room and all we need to do it put up the chair rail and crown molding. We have the crib, a dresser, and book case. The book case and crib need to be assembled. I will add the little touches and we will have a nursery. It should be interesting considering Jon will be out of town next week and the following week. We are coming down to the wire. Only 7 weeks until my due date. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Then in two weeks from today we will start to monitor the baby's size. We don't want another 9.5lber.

We had a wonderful evening on Saturday. We grilled out and had the neighbors and a few friends over for an evening fire. We bought a fire pit 6 months ago and had never used it. It was a blast. Jon was definitely proud of his fire starting abilities. I don't get what it is about men and fires. It must be an instinctual thing engrained from the cave-man days. Gavin and his best buddy were able to play in the yard.

On Sunday Jon had kickball. They finally won a game! Way to go Balls Deep! While Jon did that Gavin and I went and bought a really sturdy baseball tee. Gavin is just obsessed with all sports. It was much easier to use the tee than myself running around the yard pitching and fielding. Trust me, 8th month preggos should not be on ball shagging duty! When Jon came home we grilled burgers, played baseball, and vegged in front of the TV. It was a perfect spring weekend!

Flood, Anniversary, and Birthday

Things have been INSANE lately (as I alluded to yesterday)! Last Friday (April 10th) I was still on spring break. Gavin woke me up and we were watching cartoons. He wanted to get something from the basement. I told him to go on down and come right back up. He waited and pleaded for me to go with him...stating there is something "gray" on the carpet. I told him it must be a shadow...just go and come right back. So after several minutes he goes. He comes back and says, "mommy my socks are all wet!" Ding ding the "Oh Shit-a-meter" goes off in my head and I jump out of bed as quick as a 7 month pregnant person can jump. Run to the stairs and yep my worst fears are realized. The whole basement is soaked! The carpet sloshes when you walk on it. I open the door to the storage area and there is an inch of standing water. Everything in the that room is soaked...boxes full of photos, baby gear and clothes, x-mas decorations, and random things to sell in garage sales. It was horrible. I try to remain calm. Run up the stairs...remember I am huge and running is more like a brisk walk. Grab the phone. Call Jon. Of course, NO ANSWER! Damn his job. So who is my go to in times like this...MY DAD! He is my hero! SERIOUSLY! Call him...he never fails to answer. He tells me to check the sump pump. Go down touch it and boom it starts running. The water begins to recede. Dad tells me to call a rental store and get a carpet extractor and carpet fans. We have a long day ahead.

We (Jon, Dad, Me, and Gavin) spend the rest of the day soaking up the water. Jon and I rise the next day to finish up and head up to take the P's out for their 30th wedding anniversary. It seems as if the carpet is dry. Just a little damp. We put the fan on it and then get several more and run them until we return on Sunday.

As far as the anniversary celebration goes...we went to dinner at Maldaner's and hit the comedy show. Mom and dad were surprised and had a great time. Can you believe that 30 years has gone by and they seem happier now than I have ever seen them. I just hope that Jon and I can have the kind of marriage that they have!

We return, after a trip to the Cardinals game, and we walk in and our entire house reeks like mildew!! GROSS! Obviously, something has gone terribly wrong. We put plastic up to keep the smell downstairs and then figure out a plan the next day. We have Serv-Pro come out. Almost 2500 dollars for clean-up! NO WAY! So we pull out all the pad, the carpet in the two bedrooms, and rip all of the baseboards out. We get a dehumidifier and run it all weekend. We come home yesterday to a non-stinky and dry house. Only problem...we have shit everywhere, no baseboards, and no carpeting. So that is the point we are at now. We will get it figured out soon! One step at a time. SOMETIMES BEING A HOMEOWNER BLOWS!

As far as my big 2-9 birthday. It went well. Jon and Gavin got me a fabulous new Coach purse. Mom and dad are helping me get a new breast pump! Super pumped about that (no pun intended). I spent the day with my dear friend Trin and her family and then went to Steph's rehearsal dinner. It was fun. Couldn't ask for more. Next year is a big step! I am kind of dreading it. We will see how it goes! I may be 2-9 for the rest of my life!!

Steph's Wedding.

We had a very busy weekend. As a matter of fact we have had a CRAZY couple of weeks. I will update with all of the details of the past few weeks in another post. This one is dedicated to the wedding of my DEAR FRIEND STEPH! We packed up our things on Thursday evening and made the trip down to Nashville, Tennessee. It was a great time. Very laid back vibe for a wedding! Stephnie was a beautiful bride. Everything turned out fabulously! We were able to see Trina, Tegan, and Matt as well. Always a treat! Tegan is getting SOOOO big already. Why do these babies grow so quickly? Anyways...we had a blast. Trina threw me a great little birthday lunch on Friday. It was delish! The rehearsal dinner on Friday night was great and the wedding was ADORABLE! Here are a few photos to remember the weekend by:

The bride and her bridesmaids...for those of you who don't know Steph she is the shorty in the middle!

Uneventful Doctor's Appt.

Had my 28 week doctor's appointment today (at 29 weeks). Things are going well. Baby's heart rate was in the 150's today. Talked to the doctor about the Braxton Hicks contractions that I am having. They are more frequent and painful than I remember with Gavin. She said unless I am having more than 5 a half hour and they don't stop with rest and cold water I should be fine. So we will monitor them. My belly is measuring right on target. Weight gain has been minimal. I don't know how. I eat everything in sight! Jon asked last night at dinner if we had enough food for me...he's a peach, huh? lol

Well Jon is working late, but I will try to get a belly pic up later this week.

Wow! He is surprising me daily!

Gavin comes home yesterday and says, "Mom guess what meat-eaters are? CARNIVORES!" So proud! I then ask him what "plant-eaters are?" After a pause...he said "hermavores." I say, "close enough." He then says, "both are Omnivores." Jon didn't know that one!! I dare you to say he isn't a genius! LOL...Just jokes...but the way he retains information is amazing! I ADORE THIS KID! He is amazing!
